HRM Mobile Skate park was set up on Friday, June 25 at Shatford Memorial Elementary School from 6-8pm. Z103.5 Summer Heat cruiser were also be in attendance.

On May 19th, a meeting was held to discuss the proposed skate park in Hubbards. A strong turn out of approximately 55 people attended to hear Riley Lamarche and Martin Tonner review the benefits of a skate park in the Queensland community and the surrounding areas. They explained how a skate park will act as a recreational focal point for the kids and will be an excellent sports facility and tourist attraction for the area. Many of the myths associated with the presence of a skate park were dispelled such as the issues of increased crime, drugs, and graffiti.

Although the skate park is at a very early stage, the Association believes that the project is making good progress due to the fact that a site has already been located and after the first public meeting, there appears to be overwhelming community support.

Having community members on- board who were also involved in the Chester skate park will hopefully allow us to avoid some of the pitfalls that the Chester project fell into before their skate park became the huge success it is today.

Our next step will be assembling a committee to determine a plan of action for our goals. Any updates on the park and meetings will be posted here. Watch this space!
