Minutes from Hubbards Skate Park Committee Meeting on July 6.
1. Fundraising has started and there is a bank account for the Hubbards Skate Park. with money in it! Bottle and can refundables have been picked up from the Trellis Cafe by Philip Dyer and his Dad, Mark. They will continue doing this through-out the summer. They have already collected more than $100.00. The Hubbards Area Business Association held a Casino night at the Barn two weeks ago and donated all of the tips from the bar. Anyone wishing to drop off refundables at the Recycling Depot in Black Point, may do so, and tell them to put the money aside for the Hubbards Skate Park. 2. The Masthead and Clipper newspapers wrote some great articles about the Hubbards Skate Park after our public meeting last month. 3. The World Tuna Flat races are in Hubbards Cove on Saturday, July 24. The Hubbards Area Business Association has asked us if we would help clean up the area after and they will donate the tips from the bar again to the Hubbards Skate Park. 4. The Hubbards Parade is on August 14 and we have been invited to put a float in the parade. Perhaps there will just be a floatilla of skaters and BMX bikers in the parade. So this is what we need now: a) Who will volunteer for a cleanup crew at the waterfront in Hubbards late in the afternoon of July 24? b) Who would like to meet and volunteer for planning to be in the parade? c) Who would like to be in the parade?
